INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the new and updated online journal for Bolt Ancestry UK, my paternal side of the family.
Hello, my name is David Thornton Bolt, a Professional Photographer, City & Guilds qualified tutor and amateur genealogist.
I Initially began researching my family history way back in 1993, recording my findings first with pen and paper and then with a very basic, but effective shareware program called Brother's Keeper for Windows 3.1.
As my passion for the pursuit of accurate family history has grown, I now use the internet, specialist research companies, The National Archives, Tyne & Wear Archives and websites such a Ancestry.co.uk, Find My Past.co.uk and Durham Records Online.

My second site Walker/Burnett Ancestry is dedicated to my maternal side of the my family and can be accessed by clicking here
- In 2019 this family history site was awarded
'Runner Up'
In the 'Learning for Life Awards' section
Organised by Gateshead Council
This site I hope, will be of interest and inspire those who are looking for ways to bring their ancestors back to life, and to show in some way the social infrastructure of how our ancestors lived and worked in times gone bye.
Although I have now traced my paternal lineage back to a David Bolt born 1660 on Shetland (Zetland), I however, still have a lot of work to do in finding my true heritage especially since taking the AncestryDNA test.
